Bodegas Vicente Malumbres is a family business located in Corella in the south of Navarra, not far from Pamplona. It was founded in 1940 by Don Vicente Malumbres and is today owned and run by his son Javier Malumbres. Originally a producer of bulk wines, in 1986 the family invested significantly to upgrade the old bodega and now make smaller quantities of high quality wines.
The family owns 75 hectares of prime Navarra vineyard planted with tempranillo, garnacha, graciano, mazuelo, viura and chardonnay. Around 80% of the area is devoted to indigenous grapes varieties with the aim of making wines which have an inherently Spanish character. The old-vine garnacha in particular is extremely important for quality. Small amounts of grapes are also bought in from trusted contract growers. Malumbres red is an unoaked, ebulliently fruity blend of predominantly garnacha which represents great value for money and is a regular members’ favourite. The rosado is 100% garnacha and is a full-flavoured and generous rosé that is also remarkably food-friendly.
Malumbres wines in general represent excellent value at the price.
