The policy of The Wine Society on the countries from which we buy
We do not believe that The Society, or any other organisation/business in the UK, is best placed to make decisions on the political acceptability of trading with any particular country. We rely, therefore, on Foreign and Commonwealth Office guidance on such matters as they are best placed to take a holistic view on appropriate action, if any, that takes into account wider considerations such as the Government's current position and the adverse effect any sanctions would have on UK investments in, or imports from, a particular country.
It is also worth noting that trade embargoes are viewed as an act of last resort and therefore occur very rarely.
The Society does not do business with any country on which there are relevant sanctions (particularly trade embargoes) imposed on us by the FCO and we will continue to monitor the official guidance in future.
