Mr Iain McDonald
"This is a unique tawny port that is definitely to my taste, but won't be to everyone's. Anyone looking for the woody nuttiness of a well-aged tawny will not find it here. However, it doesn't veer to the syrupy finish of a ruby. It remains lightly red in colour, and tastes light and understated, blending mild woodiness with subdued fruit flavours. I presume it is the careful choice of aguardente that means it avoids the harsh alcohol flavours that can plague some port, meaning it is quaffably smooth. It provides a good match to many light cheeses (e.g. White Stilton, Lancashire), but if you like nuts or nutty cheeses (e.g. Gruyere, Comte) with your tawny port (this is where I reach for the LBV), I would suggest something like Graham's instead."
I would recommend this wine

"I'm surprised the Society puts its name to this, let alone grants it "Exhibition" status. Thin, watery and lacking the raisins and figs one expects in a good Tawny port. Save your money and buy the Grahams (or almost anything else). "

Mr Gabriel Higgins
"Colour: Red rust, Australian red clay.
Aroma: High alcohol, sweet, walnuts, butterscotch, clove, caramel, baking spices, raspberry sauce, strong coffee, dried apricot, raisins, cherry and a nose tingling spiciness.
Taste: Full but mellow with a smooth texture and good brisk acidity. Mouth-coating slightly sour cherry and nut flavours. Hot spicy finish and after-taste.
Overall: No complaints but I have had better tawnies. Great colour and nose but lacks a little in flavour and depth. Average, better available at this price range."

"I was so looking forward to this, but sadly, have to agree with some other reviewers. Much more ruby than tawny. Sickly sweet rather than rich or with any depth. Hugely disappointing."

"This wine exhibited a lovely bright amber - tawny colour, with a gentle brazil nut & olive oil nose, but with great balance and a soft nutty aftertaste overlain with spice. I really enjoyed it and believe it excellent value."

"Disappointing. Sickly sweet but thin and without any subtle flavours. Very poor for the price."

"Regrettably I found this disappointing. More ruby in colour than tawny, rather thin and with little hint of oak. Of course, others may think differently!"

"Nice smooth Tawny, well made and has a nice nutty edge but still retains the fruit character."

"A smooth, elegant Tawny that is excellent value. The perfect accompaniment to post-prandial cheese and nuts."

"An excellent tawny with layers of fruit, enjoyed served chilled with salted almonds by a roaring fire on a cold autumn day - enjoy!"

"To those of you who are Tawny Port drinkers, this is exactly what it says on the label."
