"Have just tried this wine for the first time. It is excellent value and I will certainly be ordering again."
Mr Alan Roff (30-Jan-2021)
"I left a 5* review because of the value of this wine. I cant believe it at this price. Perfect with fish or an aperitif. My wife loves it. We both like Viognier and not so keen on SAV B but the combination is a winner. "
Mr Robert Hubbard (27-Jan-2021)
"Good value 'house white'."
Mr Simon Bourke (01-Jan-2021)
"What a drinkable refreshing wine. It’s definitely more weighted toward the Sauvignon Blanc as it’s big on fruit and quite fresh without the viscous aromatic Viognier style. Great as a pre dinner drink and perfect when the hotter months arrive. Not complicated just very drinkable"
Mr Stuart Lawless (22-Dec-2020)
"We have been drinking this as an every evening bottle of wine for years. It is very consistent & goes with most food. VG value for money."
Mr Nicholas Hood (21-Nov-2020)
"Pleasant easy drinking"
Mr James Bowkett (08-Nov-2020)
"Another white I tried because it intrigued me. I wasn't expecting fireworks but it is a pretty good wine for the price.
In the mouth it is exactly as billed; fragrant, fruity, dry and refreshing.
One to relax with alone or drink with friends as an aperitif. It is a fun wine, uncomplicated but enjoyable."
Ms Carole Flint (01-Oct-2020)
"This is my go-to everyday white - I've been buying it regularly ever since it appeared in a Wine Without Fuss selection. Fun, tasty and good value"
Brig R H T Aitken (22-Sep-2020)
"Great Value I agree with Mr Eastman but I would say a nice balance of Savuigion Blanc/Viognier - Must be chilled!!! Great with a salmon pasta recipe I do... And People ask what is it at recent distance drinking garden parties... I rate it "
Mr Richard Pitts (16-Aug-2020)
"Have bought this wine countless times, it is perfect for easy drinking & is our go to bottle for nightly consumption. V.good value for money."
Mr Nicholas Hood (13-Aug-2020)
"An old favourite of mine and many members I know. Different vintages do vary a lot but its always good value at under £8pb. The 2019 is markedly Savuigion Blanc, it has a sharp gooseberry hit with just a hint of Viognier ( far less than earlier years) to keep that dry bitter end away. Must be chilled. A fun, good value patio/party wine, mass produced, does what it says on the label, but don't expect too much.n"

"Another fabulously
priced white from The Wine Society (£6.95!) is Duo des Mers 2019. Grapes are
sourced from two different regions of France, meaning this wine is categorised
simply as ‘Vin de France’. Sauvignon comes from Gascony and viognier from the
Languedoc and the blend works very well. ‘A glass of pleasure’ as it says on
the label. Suggested accompaniments are fish dishes, but in fact it went
equally well with a Marmite and cheddar cheese toasty! - Richard Esling"
2018 VINTAGE - MEMBER REVIEWS
"Definitely a wine to have with spicy, tangy flavoursome food! The comments in regard to the wine needing to be chilled are spot on, it wasn't pleasant at 9C but at 4C it was refreshing and drinkable!"
Mr Alan Bennett (05-Feb-2020)
"Not up to the quality of the 2018 blend but still a good value white wine. For anyone who can recall them, this smells and tastes of the old fashioned pineapple chunk sweets! The online description of "fragrant, fruity and dry" is spot on."
Mr Peter Laggan (28-Jan-2020)
"Very easy-drinking, flavourful wine. Stood up to pad Thai and was also good without food. I recommend this wine as one to try with Chinese or Thai food and would buy it again. Probably also a good fridge door staple in the summer."
Mr Bob White (25-Jan-2020)
"As someone else stated this wine must be really welled chilled before drinking but when it is, I think, it is excellent value for the money. It's very dry and refreshing. I've had 3 cases so far so I think I'm qualified to comment on it."
Mr Michael Payne (26-Dec-2019)
"Lovely with prawns and mackerel pate"
Miss Chris James (07-Dec-2019)

"Tried all the recent vintages and all are really good and fantasic value at under £7pb. 2017 is same high standard as previous years. Easy drinking but far better than everyday party wine. Always on my re-order list. Highly recommended. "
Mr Terence Eastham (05-Sep-2018)
"This is a beautifully blended wine, with bags of tropical fruit flavour and a smooth finish. At a family gathering everyone enjoyed this wine - which is a first, so well done the Wine Society for seeking this out. PS: As the bottle shows two fish I could not resist serving it with grilled sea bream and it was an excellent partnering."

"I was chatting to a
friend the other day and discovered that he only ever buys one wine ([this
one], in case you’re curious), works his way through it, then reorders. This
seemed weird to me, given how many delicious wines there are out there, but
then I realised that it is exactly what I do with other things: breakfast

"An attractive blend with a palate of pear, pineapple and citric lift."
Mr Alan Kingsbury (26-Feb-2018)
"A delightfully fresh dry white that would do well as an everyday wine with pretty much anything. Light fragrant sea breeze scent blends into a taste of apples and walnuts, with a lime finish. Eminently quaffable, great value, and a likely crowd pleaser."
Mr Patrick Vickers (11-Feb-2018)
"Apricot and pineapple on the nose with sharp gooseberry and tropical acidity on tasting.
Very decent for the price!"
Mr Alex Downham (02-Feb-2018)
"Just enough acidity to make this work. Lovely Sav nose, more weighty in the mouth but think it needs more fruit there. Would order again at this price."
Mr Julian Fox (19-Jan-2018)
"Colour: Bright and clear, very pale straw with green nuances.
Aroma: Pronounced aromas of gooseberry, ginger, passionfruit, lemon, green herbs, green pea and asparagus.
Taste: Medium-bodied, nice smooth fleshy texture and medium acidity. Flavours of peach, grapefruit, tangerine, mango and gooseberry with a ripe almost semi-sweet decent length finish.
Overall: My only complaint is that the Viognier takes away some of the crisp zestiness of the Sauvignon Blanc but that's a personal thing. Aromatic, full of flavour, it's more New World Sauv than Old World and all in all very enjoyable. Great QPR, food friendly, a guaranteed crowd pleaser."
Mr Gabriel Higgins (15-Dec-2017)
"Apricot and pineapple on the nose with sharp gooseberry and tropical acidity on tasting.
Very decent for the price!"
Mr Alex Downham (05-Dec-2017)
"A promising combination of grapes, but the balance didn't really seem quite right, and I shan't be ordering it again. Of course, at the price one can hardly complain – it's perfectly agreeable."
Mr Mark O'Sullivan (29-Oct-2017)
"Unusual blend of Sav Blanc and Viognier. The Viognier rounds out the wine but its a tricky balance between it and the Sav Blanc. There's a good nose on this wine and its noticeably aromatic. Its very much down to the drinker though - my wife and I disagreed on whether the Viognier neutralised the zing of the Sav Blanc.
For me the bouquet promised more than the wine delivered but you cannot complain at this price. Definitely a grape combination to watch and try again - the depth that the Viognier created was really rather good."
Mr Matt Wilks (23-Oct-2017)
"2015 vintage was stunning and this year shows that this wine never fails to disappoint
Nectarine on the nose with apple and pear on the tongue and with a smooth lemon and lime touch on the palate - utterly sublime. Fruity, delicious and a good deep finish makes it an excellent partner for flavoursome fish dishes
A steal for the price. Well done WS!!"

"Slightly unusual
bedfellows here - courtesy, perhaps, of the more liberal VIn de France

(presumably sauvignon's contribution) vie for attention with floral, ripe
nectarine centred texture with hints of pineapple that, one guesses, emanate
from the viognier. - Brian Elliott"

"It's become a mantra
of mine that if you like Kiwi sauvignon blanc, then you head to French regions
such as the Loire to make a comparison. I know friends who are so fixated on a
tart splash of Marlborough's finest that they rarely buy anything else. That's
a shame, but if you're not going to venture too far beyond the variety itself
then try a sauvignon blanc from Gascony where it can be as vivid as New
Zealand. Head winemaker for LGI Xavier Roger picks the sauvignon blanc early to
retain freshness and adds 20% viognier which adds silkiness to the blend
producing an easy-going wine that's perfect for casual sipping. - Andy Cronshaw"

Dr Pippa Lane (22-Jan-2017)
"As someone who isn't that great a fan of Sauvignon nor Viognier, this wine was the dark horse of a recent order, and taken on the advice of a friend. Very glad that I took that advice as the two combine to make a moreish, easy drinking wine that tiptoes along the right levels of fruitiness for my palate."
Mr Addam Merali-Hosiene (30-Dec-2016)
"Easy drinking everyday white, there is a light Sauvignon blanc flavour (not as full on as a NZ) but quite refreshing, the wine then evolves into a slightly peachy flavour from the Viognier. At under £6 I can't really complain, a well balanced and rounded wine which I am sure will be added on a reorder list."
Mr David Mitchell (04-Oct-2016)
"Disappointing. I had to concentrate hard to detect the component flavours, and they were not exciting or satisfying."
Mr John Riddell (13-Aug-2016)
"For those who, dare I say it, get a little tired of the fruity blast of powerful southern hemisphere Sauvignon Blancs, here is a respite - the Viognier 'trims' the edges of the somewhat sharper SB flavour and produces an impressively balanced, delicious (and inexpensive) wine that is an ideal partner for those few warm summer evenings when we can sit outside and really enjoy this - well chilled. By any standards this is good, at the price it is a steal!"
Mr Christopher Groom (11-Aug-2016)
