Beautiful orange-ochre colour and equally
beautiful and complex aroma of bitter orange, walnuts, smoke, bitter toffee.
Just a slight whiff of alcohol. This is bone dry, intense and long with that
bitter-orange sourness that some might find challenging. Complex and nutty
and much more sophisticated and harmonious than many Amontillados at 12 years
old. The alcohol is very well integrated. But beware, it really does taste
bone dry and is thus quite demanding. Should be great with steak. Incredible
length. Very good value. 17.5/20

"The Wine Society is
one of the few UK mainstream retailers to offer a good sherry range, and that
includes this stunning Amontillado, which will happily keep in the fridge for
weeks after opening. Amontillado is a fino or manzanilla sherry that has been
given further age in an oxidative way, without flor. Hence the colour will be
lighter than an oloroso, but darker than a fino or manzanilla. A gorgeous amber
in the glass, give this a swirl and aromas of citrus and nuts will leap from
the glass. Tangy with lip smacking acidity and a lovely salinity, it's intense,
complex and fully dry. Serve it slightly chilled with jamón, hard cheeses,

Sykes on a visit to Williams & Humbert in the company of sherry supremo,
Peter Dauthieu, this classic, golden bronze Amontillado made from Palomino is
sweetly fragrant with all manner of candied apricot, vanilla oak and caramel
swirling around, but when you taste, all that deceptive sweetness morphs into a
richness of texture followed by a bone dry salted caramel finish with a smoky
edge to it. Hugely impressive as a drink on its own or with chorizo or jamón
